Last spring, I emailed Chrissy about starting up a writing and editing business. A couple of days later, she arrived at my house with enthusiasm, ideas, and a bottle of wine. Point was born.
Now, here we are, and thrilled about it. We’d like to share some of that enthusiasm even though, sadly, we can’t offer you a glass of wine.
We started Point because we love words and ideas. We love pruning back language to uncover the most elegant form of an idea. We love the subtlety of the English language—how a comma can be so expressive; how a preposition can turn your meaning upside down; how syntax determines whether your sentence stumbles, or does a little dance. We love that words, when arranged artfully, can thunder. We love simile and metaphor, and believe that writing is like a combination bike lock: line your words up in the right order and something clicks, then opens, and—there goes your message, freewheeling into the world.
It is a delight for us to work with words, and we could go on and on about it, but we also believe in getting to the point quickly, then trusting that the point has been made.
